What they do.
Cleanery makes household and personal care products in powdered form. Cleaners, disinfectants, dishwashing, hand soap, body wash and more, all delivered as a small refill pack that the customer mixes with water at home. No single-use bottle. No water shipped around the world.
Cleanery Powder Technology is the chemistry and the manufacturing platform behind it, built to scale globally. Products are formulated to meet consumer expectations on performance, fragrance and skin compatibility. The company produces Cleanery-branded products and runs private-label, scientific, and contract manufacturing for other brands out of its purpose-built Auckland factory.
Why it matters.
Household cleaning and personal care is a half-trillion-dollar category built on shipping water in bulky packaging. Packaging waste, fossil-derived plastic and freight emissions are all consequences of that one format.
Cleanery Powder Technology removes all of it. 99% less plastic waste. 99% lower emissions. Better unit economics, better margins, and better value for consumers. The category-shift case is commercial first: environmental impact follows market share.
Where they are now.
- Sold in leading supermarkets across Australasia and the United States, including Kroger and Albertsons, two of the largest grocery chains in the US.
- Works with other brands and retailers on private-label and contract manufacturing to accelerate innovation and speed to market, including a global partner that will take Cleanery products into over 80 markets.
- New brand identity launching in 2026.
- Capital deployment supports manufacturing scale-up, international marketing and market development, continued research and development, and expansion of the private-label strategy.
The CVCF investment.
Climate Fund 1 backed Cleanery as the powder-format thesis matured commercially. The investment case: a consumer brand with a structural cost advantage on packaging and logistics that grows market share by competing on price and performance, not eco-positioning alone. As the category shifts away from plastic-and-water, Cleanery captures the upside.
Cleanery passed the Climate Impact Committee's IRIS+ review. Every unit sold displaces a measurable quantity of single-use plastic packaging, with embodied emissions data tied to volume sold. The business measures Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and offsets at 120%.
